Visceral Therapy
“Only the tissues know.”
Jean-Pierre Barral, a French Osteopath and Physical Therapist, developed the technique of Visceral Manipulation while working at the Lung and Disease Hospital in Grenoble, France under the tutelage of Dr. Arnaud, a specialist in lung diseases and cadaver dissection. After many post-mortem cadaver dissections on former patients, Barral was able to connect the symptoms and conditions the patients had experienced during their life to the physical anatomy inside their bodies post-mortem. What he observed was often extensive tissue thickening around the viscera (organs), having a causal relationship on the physiological motion and position of the organs. When the tissues in the abdomen have restriction, many issues, even musculoskeletal issues, can appear.
Restriction in the tissues of the abdomen can be caused by: physical and emotional trauma, surgery, pregnancy, posture, sickness and even diet and lifestyle.
Visceral Manipulation is a gentle manual therapy technique that enables the body to release restrictions and compensatory patterns that contribute to visceral dysfunction and/or musculoskeletal problems.
Visceral Manipulation has been shown to help with:
-Digestive Disorders
-Acid Reflux
-Post-Operative Scar Tissue (following operations such as a cesarian, hysterectomy, appendectomy, etc.)
-Spinal Dysfunction
-Lower Back Pain and Sciatica
-Pediatric Health Issues (Colic)
This list is just the beginning!

Decompression Table
Decompression is a service that helps take the pressure off of the discs that separate each vertebrae. Through cycles of stretch and relaxation, decompression unloads the discs which encourages increased blood flow, movement of water, oxygen and nutrients into the disc to promote healing. In addition, decompression takes pressure off of nerves and other structures in the spine. Conditions decompression can improve are: herniated discs, bulging discs, sciatica, radiculopathy or radicular symptoms, degenerative disc disease, facet syndrome, arthritis, headaches, etc. If you care about the well-being of your spine, decompression is for you!
Every patient that uses the decompression table at my clinic also receives deep tissue work. I pair the two because the decompression table is able to be more effective if the tissue surrounding the target area is not restricted.
I have a deep appreciation for the healing power of decompression after helping my brother heal from a disc injury that left him debilitated. He crashed during a motorcross race and thought he had broken his back. After receiving imaging that did not show any fractures, we thought there was only inflammation that he would have to recover from. Slowly, he began to experience all over body aches, neuropathy and plantarfasciitis type pain in his feet, pain in his legs and the emotional impact that comes with chronic pain. Months after his crash when my family and I realized there was something seriously wrong that would not go away without deeper intervention, I invested in a decompression table which completely changed his life. Now, he is a healthy and vibrant young man with no chronic pain. God giving me the opportunity to walk through this valley with my brother has allowed me to help so many others with similar issues and for that I am deeply grateful.
Manual Therapy
Most of the techniques used during treatments are myofascial release techniques which are similar to deep tissue massage. Restrictions in the myofascial system (muscle and connective tissue) occur due to trauma (physical or emotional), injury or repetitive stress. Improving the movement of the myofascial system allows for reduction of pain systemically by taking pressure off of muscles, nerves, blood vessels, organs, and other structures thoughout the body. This work has systemic effects. Conditions that can be treated are: headaches, back pain, neck pain, TMJ issues, foot pain, etc. Most people who have chronic or acute pain can benefit from myofascial release!
Infrared Sauna
Infrared saunas have many positive health benefits that include but are not limited to:
-Improved circulation: Infrared heat increased blood flow, which can lead to increased oxygen availble to the tissues and support cardiovascular health.
-Pain relief: Infrared heat penetrates deeper and can help soothe sore muscles and relieve joint pain pain from conditions like fibromyalgia and arthritis.
-Detoxification: Sweating is a natural way for the body to eliminate toxins.
-Immune system support: Increased body temperature may stimulate the production of white blood cells, which helps the immune system.
-Skin health: Enhanced circulation and sweating can improve skin tone, elasticity. Near-infrared light is used to promote collagen production.
This is a great service to add before or after manual therapy or decompression sessions.
Infrared saunas are NOT a luxury, but a deeply powerful medical tool. Connie Zack, the owner of Sunlighten Saunas has recorded many interviews about the incredible power of infrared light as a healing modality. Here are a few of my favorite interviews with her:
